  Did Watchtower Really Teach That Armageddon Was Coming in 1954?

  in the march 2025 jw broadcast david splane in his morning worship talk mentioned that "some thought" that armageddon would come 40 years after 1914. such statements are usually meant to shift the blame of their own false predictions on to their members for speculating.

  however, i was unable to find anything in print showing that such a thing was indeed taught by the society.

  was this really a thing?.

  january 2021: the norwegian state denies state subsidies to jehovah's witnesses, citing exclusion policies.. august 2021: a norwegian court annuls a disfellowshipping decision by jehovah's witnesses.. may 3, 2022: the supreme court of norway upholds the decision to annul the disfellowshipping.. october 25, 2022: the county governor of oslo and viken demands changes to jehovah's witnesses' practices.. december 22, 2022: jehovah's witnesses' registration as a religious community is revoked.

  —---anthony morris iii officially stepped down from the governing body of jehovah's witnesses on february 22, 2023.

  march 4, 2024: oslo county court rules in favor of the state, upholding the decision to withhold funding and retract registration.. february 3-14, 2025: the oslo appeal court hears the latest appeal from jehovah's witnesses.

  i just saw the new wt is up and available.

  the cover picture looks to me like the one that should have been used on the august 2024 wt but was pulled at the last minute and released with a different picture many weeks later.

  someone on here uploaded a low res version of the picture last year.. of course we all know why the picture was pulled in the first place........ george.

  Pass on cars to attend Assemblies?

  i have just read a post about february 2025 (i suppose) announcements in italy saying that from now on at assemblies they need a pass, given by elders, to put on cars.. is that possible/true?.

  Changing the Date of the Memorial?

  i noticed in the latest memorial invitation, the dates for the observance are odd--well far more odd than usual.. what i mean is that forever as i can remember, jehovah's witnesses use to advertise really big that this was nisan 14. they don't tend to do this anymore.. and being jewish, their dates now tend to align with passover, or at least with the second seder night of passover.. 2025: saturday, april 12 (nisan 15).

  2026: thursday, april 2 (nisan 15/16).

  2027: monday, march 22 (nisan 15/16).

  Age Appropriate Friends

  we have a 25 year guy in our hall who is also a pioneer (which means he lives off his parents money), who likes to spend a lot of time with a 16 year old girl in the hall.

  it is usually in a group setting but he seems to gravitate toward her.

  he even has her auxilary pioneering , which is something i don't think any student trying to make the grades needs.
